About the Artist

Margot’s plein air watercolor paintings reflect her strong connection with nature beginning at an early age in the wooded hills of suburban Philadelphia. Her childhood, influenced by the surroundings of the lush Brandywine Valley and the Wyeth painting tradition formed her passion for depicting landscapes, seascapes, and all aspects of the environment. Working outdoors, her representational expressionism presents vivid color, contemporary in style and design. She signs her paintings “Wally”, a family nickname.

Enjoying mountain trekking, ocean activities, landscape gardening and global travel, this artist’s watercolor paintings reflect her vitality and exuberance. These interests provide multifaceted surroundings for painting representations of nature in atmospheric conditions. Margot pushes the realism of our perceived world through a strong use of color to reflect intense emotional appreciation.

A lifetime student of art and culture, Margot attended studio classes at Boston Museum’s School of Art. To compliment her traditional East coast art education in the Masters, Margot became a docent for the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art. Here her style was influenced while studying the works and lifestyles of Georgia O’Keefe, Frank Stella, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg.

Creating richly colored and exciting surfaces, her bravura use of paint provides the viewer with a recognizable reality. She continues to seek out new sources of inspiration and methods of expression to more effectively share her dedication to detail and accuracy.
