New Faces on the Board
At the LJAA Board
meeting on February 6, Tom Scott stepped back into the role of
Vice President. With new pressures on his time at work, Tom requested that the
Board find a new president who could offer more focus than he currently feels
he can give.
Tom has been
instrumental in bringing about significant changes in how the LJAA handles
business processes over the past two years. He designed our current website,
and automated many processes for us such as title card printing and consignment lists for shows, online membership list and and
online list of collector names that can be used for publicity. Thanks to Tom,
board meetings routinely last less than two hours. Resolutions are proposed in
advance, in writing, so that people have time to consider the implications of
new ideas before entering into discussion. Tom guided the organization safely
through the turbulent waters of a huge change in culture, going from a gallery
that required only $1 a year in rent to a gallery with regular monthly fixed expenses

Scott Graham was
elected by the board to be our new president. Congratulations, Scott, and thank
you for your willingness to serve. Many of you may already know Scott. He has
been a very active member of LJAA. Scott has been our Lecture Series
coordinator for much of the past year, and has participated on hanging
committees, as well as participating in exhibitions and attending Board
meetings.
Also elected to
serve on the Board is John Valois. John will focus on special
group show events and assist with arranging staffing of the gallery. John
joined LJAA about six months ago and has been active in attending board
meetings and helping out where needed. Congratulations, John, and thanks for your enthusiasm and service.
